The Derryfield School begins its second half century in a position of strength and with a profound sense of opportunity.

As New Hampshire’s only independent day school for middle and high school students, Derryfield has provided an outstanding educational experience for students and their families for over 50 years. Throughout that time, we have stood confidently on the principles of our mission and educational philosophy – to inspire bright, motivated young people to be fully engaged in a dynamic, diverse, and spirited learning community. And to lead lives of inquiry, passion, purpose, leadership, and service to others.

The opportunity before us – our imperative, we believe – is more clear than ever: to accelerate the continued excellence, relevance, innovation, and impact of Derryfield’s educational programs.

But today we face an impasse, Derryfield’s educational programs and student population no longer fit a campus that was designed over 50 years ago for a student body of 150. Now with nearly 400 students and faculty and staff of 120, Derryfield is bursting at the seams. We desperately need new academic space, science labs, collaborative spaces, and a new and much larger home for our indoor athletics, fitness, wellness, and dance programs. Working together, the administration and Board of Trustees have reached the conclusion that Derryfield must seek substantial new capital to move the school forward. Our Thinking Forward campaign is a fundraising initiative that will meet our programmatic and facilities requirements, advancing Derryfield’s long-term financial well-being.

This is a moment of challenge for our school. Our needs are urgent, and we need to address them now. Just as our Founders once gathered together in living rooms and created this institution, it is time again for a group of committed citizens to invest in our vision for the next 50 years. We are confident that once again the extended Derryfield community will share our commitment to the brightest possible future for our students.

Then

A true grassroots effort, Derryfield was the vision of 39 passionate founders in search of a better education for their children. The original facility was designed for 150 students.

And Now

Today our student population has grown to close to 400 and we are in need of new and updated facilities to maintain Derryfield as an educational leader in our region.
