Ways to Give

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of support to the Thinking Forward campaign. There are many ways you can support the next generation of Derryfield, and the Advancement Office is available to discuss the ways that would work best for you. Below is an outline of options for you to consider:

  • Making a gift over a period of time. Many donors to the campaign are able to think about a larger philanthropic gift to the School by making a multi-year commitment. By breaking up the gift over a 3 - 5 year period, you can structure a gift that allows you to plan over a period of time.

  • Make your gift online.

  • Making a gift of cash. The Derryfield School is a 501(c)(3) so your gift is 100% tax-deductible in the year in which the gift is received.

  • A gift of appreciated assets. In most cases, an outright gift of appreciated securities entitles the donor to an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities. In the case of securities, which have been held for more than one year, the capital gains tax is waived. Please be sure to notify the advancement office that a transfer is coming through so your gift can be appropriately acknowledged and receipted.

  • Corporate matching gifts. Double or even triple your contribution! Many employers match their employees' contributions to independent schools. You must initiate this process through your human resources department; fill out and send us your company's matching gift form, and we'll do the rest!

  • Donor advised funds. If you have a donor advised fund, you can recommend a grant from your fund to support the Thinking Forward Campaign.

  • IRA charitable rollover. If you are 70 ½ or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 annually from your IRA directly to the School as a charitable gift. This would allow you to take a distribution without it being treated as a taxable event.

  • Establish a legacy gift to Derryfield through your will or trust, name Derryfield as a beneficiary to a life insurance policy, IRA, or other retirement account, or ask about setting up a charitable gift annuity.

For all philanthropic, gifts we encourage you to speak with your personal tax and financial advisors concerning the specific outcomes of making a gift to the campaign. For additional details and questions, please contact Anna Moskov, Director of Philanthropy & Engagement, at amoskov@derryfield.org.
